A transgender Mom remembers her first kiss at her legendary 80’s garage party.
SYNOPSIS:
Heather, a late 40’s mother of two, receives a wedding invite in the mail. She notices it’s from Michael, her best friend from high school who she hasn’t seen in 25 years. When she see’s he’s marrying a man, she couldn’t be happier for him.
Heather flashes back to high school. It’s prom week 1987! Her braces are off! Not that it matters, she doesn’t have a date and either does her friend Michael. They talked about going together, but decided they would have more fun watching scary movies and playing with the Ouija board.
When Michael discovers Heather’s parents are in Hawaii, he wants to have a small party. Heather rejects the idea, fearing no one will show up like last time, plus her Grandma is staying at the house all week.
Word gets around school that Heather’s parents are gone for the weekend and Heather becomes popular for the first time. When Heather’s crush, “Johnny Football” assures he will stop by, Heather is ecstatic and announces a party...whoops! She needs a plan.
Heather asks her Grandma if it would be okay to have a few friends over Saturday for a garage party. Grandma, clueless most of the time, agrees that would be fine. Heather is such a good girl. What could go wrong?
When the party bill becomes too big to handle, Heather needs to find a way to get Grandma out of the house. Her and Michael concoct a plan, but when Heather comes home from school Friday to find Grandma’s bags packed, the plan is aborted. Grandma forgot what day it is. Lucky for Heather.
When Johnny Football asks Heather if his cousins band “Tesla” can play the party, Heather has no idea who they are, but goes along with it, hoping for a chance to kiss him.
Michael is happy for Heather. He wants her to have a special first kiss. He knows she’s transgender, but no one else in school does.
With the party raging, Heather gets trashed, and so does her garage. She doesn’t care. She will do anything for that kiss with Johnny.
In a wild game of spin the bottle and not even knowing how to play, Heather lays one on him before the game even starts. Johnny kisses back and everyone cheers.
She can’t wait to tell Michael! In all her excitement, she lays one on him, but it’s better than before. It’s a real kiss. Both confused by what’s happening, still enjoy a passionate kiss. Heather and Michael really care for each other.
Heather is thrusted back to reality when her adopted kids call her name and she goes to help.
On the day of Michael’s wedding, Heather lays a big kiss on him and everyone cheers. Michael announces that Heather was his first kiss and tells how much she helped shape the man he is today. During his speech Heather kisses his husband and everyone laughs.
