GENRE: Action, Thriller
LOGLINE: Hell breaks loose when a breach in protocol forces a driver to abandon his duties of transporting five mental health patients.

SYNOPSIS:

This is a hair raising, teary, a few laughs story which unfolds backwards using the escaped patients’ back stories to cure their medically inflicted psychosis. Five mental health patients escape from a hospital van, after one of them points a fake gun to the driver transferring them to an advanced medical facility. When the driver, SNIPER is falsely spooked into abandoning his duties and flees in terror from the scene, the heavily drugged patients’ circumstances quickly change in their favor. While AYA is lost in a gender deciding conflict with herself, unaware of the new opportunity, PRINCESS finds a psychological mother/son connection with ANTONIO and they escape out of the van through the window. NAIRA in her delusional mindset, putting her in a military base sneaks out the driver’s door. OZONE takes the wheel, driving off with unsuspecting Aya at the back seat. With no access to their medication, the five gang escapees’ drugs slowly begin to wear off, leading Princess to her parents’ farm with Antonio tagging along. Naira finds her way back to her marital home with only bits and pieces of her last memories guiding her journey. Ozone stops the van at a designated area to pick up eight unsuspecting civilian passengers who are desperate for peak hour transport. When the civilian passengers realize they have been duped, their fate is already sealed in Ozone’s hands who has locked the car door. Three of the civilian passengers panic and jump out the racing van windows and meet their instant death. Sniper reaches his destination where he crashes into the advanced mental health institution's security gate, with four armed security guards in pursuit of the van on foot. Ozone quickly parks the van and unlocks the door, allowing the panicked civilian passengers to run amok. The security guards chase the five civilian passengers assuming they are the mental health patients. Ozone speeds off. Princess is already running a high fever, as side effects for not taking her scheduled medication when she introduces Antonio as her son to her shocked parents whom she is holding hostage with a gun, in their barn. Ozone dumps the hospital van and flees into the bush with grumpy Aya. The private medical facility does not report the five missing mental health patients but NOKUTHABA, wife to Sniper the hospital van driver goes to the police station to report her husband missing. Two leading female police detectives and partners, LISA and MICHELLE are called to the road crime scene with three dead bodies. The flamboyant, high spending, fun loving, corrupt Lisa does not pursue dockets with no monetary gain, and tries to convince hard working Michelle, who has no social life to do the same. Michelle takes the case and convinces her partner, Lisa to join her uncover the dubious dealings of the fraudulent mental institution, where they find more similar patients and a doctor who leads them to Ozone’s bloody trail. By the time the two detectives catch up and uncover the truth about Aya, Naira, Antonio and Princess, sanity has already been restored and justice served to the victims' perpetrators.

Oh, WOW!!!!!!! Wilmer, oh WOW!!!

Thank you for giving my logline a 5 star rating !!! I only PRAY to get commissioned.

Matt Taylor

Hi Thoko. Sounds like a great idea! Maybe focus more on the protagonists? Something like: 'When two female cops pursue a group of escaped mental patients, they uncover a series of hidden crimes.'

Matt Taylor

Also, it's good to talk about what's at stake. Is there a time pressure? A conspiracy? Some huge ramification? You could add that to the logline, e.g. '...a series of hidden crimes that threatens to topple the government.'

Thoko Zulu

Yes, Matt...I forgot about the stakes...you're making a lot of sense. Thank you.

Thoko Zulu

@ matt... you're a genius
