The Home Group is a new fictional series that follows the lives of addicts in recovery as they try to live life on life's terms....and face the consequences when they don't. Their only commonality is their weekly 12 step meeting, the desire to stay clean, and overwhelming odds an addict faces when they choose to get clean.
SYNOPSIS:
Co-Creator and Executive Producer Marcus B. Meyers, Co-Creator and Executive Producer Jose-Luis Partida, and Executive Producer Brenda Isaacs-Booth tackle the Disease of Addiction in a way that has never been portrayed in a dramatic series.
The Home Group, just like life itself, is a mixture of dark comedy and drama where nobody gets out undamaged but it’s worth fighting for. It is a highly entertaining series with larger than life characters but it also addresses the issues of being a recovering addict in today's world. It is a dramatic series which follows our characters through their daily lives as they deal with all aspects of being an addict in recovery. The series is written by Marcus B Meyers, an addict with over thirty three years in the rooms of recovery and an active member of a twelve step program. The script brings together a group of diverse characters with varying lengths of clean time with little in common except the disease of addiction and their desire to stop using and change their lives. The only commonality of this wonderful group of characters is the weekly twelve step meeting they all attend. The characters are fictitious but the series is based in reality as to the challenges, heart aches, successes, failures, joys, hopes, and tragedies of life. The Home Group explores the bond made during the journey of one addict helping another addict work a program of recovery and stay clean while dealing with life on life’s terms.
