BLOOD LAW

BLOOD LAW
By Steve Mondelli

GENRE: Action
LOGLINE:

A cynical cop with a shoot-first attitude partners up with an ancient Zen-like vampire in a race against time to stop a killer and save a group of missing children.

SYNOPSIS:

In Detroit, a city where humans and vampires are still learning to co-exist, a string of mysterious murders and child abductions propels Detective James Halladay into the most puzzling and perilous case of his career. Still in the midst of coping with the recent deaths of his wife and daughter, Halladay launches his investigation and soon discovers that the perpetrator may be of the night-stalking breed. It is then that he meets his new partner, Alister Benoit, a vampire over 600 years old, armed with uncanny powers and wisdom.

Despite a deep seeded disdain for vampires and the fact that they are virtual opposites, Halladay agrees to work with Alister, realizing he understands very little about the undead citizens of Detroit, most of all, how to catch one. Together, they trace the clues that lead back to a vampire supremacist, knowing each precious moment that passes could be the difference between life and death for the kidnapped children.

After an explosive showdown with their chief suspect and his gang they learn that the real killer is someone else entirely with a much more sinister agenda, and as the death toll rises with more children going missing, the prospect of all-out war between humans and vampires threatens to rip the city apart. As events continue to spiral out of control Halladay is thrown off the case. Refusing to relent he comes up with a last ditch effort with Alister’s help to bring the killer to justice. Although they both nearly lose their lives in the process the plan appears to work. But as their moment of triumph unfolds they discover a clandestine, remorseless plot that runs deeper than either of them could’ve ever fathomed.
