1593. Christopher Marlowe, England's foremost playwright at the time and a spy for her majesty, is about to be tried for treason.  With his gay lover, who has been ordered to kill him, the two men hire a bumbling actor named Shakespeare to front for his writings -- and fake Marlowe's murder.
