By Alan Hoffman

GENRE: Sci-fi, Comedy
LOGLINE:

When a vampire kidnaps his partner, a monster hunter who’s been put on probation must join forces with supernatural beings in a desperate attempt to rescue her.

SYNOPSIS:

LARS SUNDERSON, a supernatural creature hunter, inadvertently trashes a hotel in an attempt to capture an Ogre. His employers, the Hunter Society, scold Lars and suspend his license.

Soon after, a pack of goons kidnap his partner OPHELIA WARREN.

The Senior Hunter arrives with PHIL WARREN, Ophelia’s father. The Senior Hunter tells Lars to work with Phil to get Ophelia back. Lars is confused: Phil is an old friend, yet merely a high school teacher. Lars assumes Phil knows nothing about supernatural creatures. Then the Senior Hunter says Phil has worked with their organization before – and encourages Phil to reveal his true nature: Phil is actually a “Draugr,” an undead Scandinavian zombie.

Lars feels as though he is not sure he can trust Phil now, though he agrees to work with Phil to help save Ophelia. They find a ransom message from a “LADY VALENDA ” who they know is moniker used by a powerful, aristocratic vampire. She wants an ancient mask that the Hunter Society has in exchange for Ophelia.

Their investigation brings them to MAXINE, a werewolf and an old flame of Phil’s. With her instinct and quick reflexes, she proves to be a useful ally.

Eventually they find that Lady Valenda is holding Ophelia captive at an island resort. The trio land on the island, overcome guards, and release Ophelia from the room where’s she’s being held, yet a group of resort staff surround them. The foursome take out their adversaries, only to find Valenda waiting for them.

Phil and Valenda recognize each other: a lifetime ago they were married. Valenda had no idea Ophelia was his daughter, not that she cares. She fumes that they didn’t bring the mask, but when her electronic bracelet goes off she smiles; change of plans. She grabs Lars and soars skyward.

Lars wakes up in Valenda’s lab, strapped to a table. She explains that the mask she wanted contained basilisk blood. Yet her bracelet reveals that Lars has basilisk DNA in his own blood. Valenda learned that basilisk blood allows her to extract the lifeforce of children to make her fertile: she wants to have a vampire baby, perhaps spawn an army of them. She plans to use his blood after obtaining a group of children at an ice skating show.

With Ophelia, Phil and Maxine, the Hunter Society race to the ice arena. Valenda lures the kids underneath the arena where she subdues them and straps them into a complex device.

Phil finds Valenda and they have an epic battle, but the older, stronger Valenda wins. As the life forces of the children begin to flow into her, Valenda rises in the air, thrashing about violently. She blows through the ceiling, before the energy flows back to the children and reduce her to a quivering mess.

Phil realizes her untested experiment turned her human instead. She’s devastated at having lost her vampire-ness, but Lars kindly suggests that maybe part of her wanted to be human again; and he wouldn’t mind being her beau while she gave it a shot.

Phil and invites the Hunter Society to his home to celebrate their success. The Senior Hunter suggests that they will need Phil and Maxine’s help again in the future.
