Suspicion and old animosities between the affluent and the segregated Black community, come to a head after mysterious happenings and a UFO crash in 1938, Princeton, New Jersey.
SYNOPSIS:
This story is inspired by actual events, and the 1938 radio broadcast of Orson Welles's The War of the Worlds. Princeton, New Jersey, in 1938, is on the cusp of major development projects, after a devastating depression. But the future is bright, depending on whom you ask. Eminent Domain threatens the local Black community, as well as the insidious effects of redlining, intimidation, and economic discrimination. So when a UFO crashes onto Merle Paige's farm, Archibald Rothschild, part of an old-money family, with deep pockets and close ties to city officials and Princeton University, tries to wrestle both Merle's land and the artifact away from him. Rumors of Nazi invasions and Communist insurrections put a target on Merle's back, but he's got another problem: a sentient and perturbed extraterrestrial, who's either the answer to Merle's wildest hopes, or the ruination of Merle and his entire world.

You need to develop this story. I'd love to see this movie.

Love this idea. My Grandmother and Dad told me stories of hearing that broadcast. I toyed with writing a story based on it. You beat me to it. Good luck with it.

My Nana was actually one of my sources. It just struck me how it wasn't an alien or German invasion that scared them.

This sounds like a really exciting story, Nicole F. Burney. I think the logline needs to be structured better though. There's no sense of a main character, a story goal, or stakes.
This logline template might help: "After ______ (the inciting incident/the event that sets the plot in motion), a _______ (the protagonist with an adjective) tries/attempts to _______ (goal of story) so ________ (stakes)."
Your logline might not fit into this template fully (since your story is based on a real event), but you could play around with the template to make a great logline.

I like this idea even if I'm not a sci-fy guy. Good luck!
