PEOPLE POWER

PEOPLE POWER
By Katy Dore

GENRE: Music, Adventure
LOGLINE:

A reluctant teenager and her eager brother join a traveling choir and discover the squeaky-clean group is actually a front for a crime ring that uses the clueless teenage singers as drug runners.

SYNOPSIS:

It’s 1976, the Bicentennial of the United States of America. The hyper-patriotic, squeaky-clean teen choir, People Power, is traveling the country showcasing the talent of America’s “good” kids. At her parents’ insistence (and to escape a horrifying teenage humiliation) 17 year old Lainey reluctantly joins People Power along with her eager brother Brett. The kids sing and dance, spreading good vibes—and illicit drugs—across America. When Lainey discovers she is being used by the choir’s directors as an unwitting drug mule, she recruits her fellow singers to work from within to burn to the operation to the ground. A cross-country adventure with corny songs and choreography, this romp is Glee meets Breaking Bad.
