For fifteen years after a global catastrophe a man and his adopted daughter have not seen another human being. Now they've encountered a group of survivors from a place called New Avalon. Wandering the wilderness all that time may have been the easy part.
SYNOPSIS:
Since Fiona was two years old, Jack was the only person she had ever known. The two of
them spent all those years wandering the countryside, looking for other people, and not finding
any.
Until one day they encounter three people who are out foraging for supplies for their
community, a place they call New Avalon, with over six thousand people. They invite Jack and
Fiona to come back with them.
New Avalon is a mix of people—survivors who remember life before The End, and kids who
either don't remember those days or were born afterwards. They have many of the amenities
that we are accustomed to, like running water, electricity, fresh food, even cold beer. Fiona
finds all this as terrifying as Jack finds it amazing.
Then Fiona discovers boys, and that she likes them.
New Avalon is about a group of survivors attempting to rebuild, to overcome a trauma, to rise
again from the ashes. It's a generational drama, about older people who remember the
miraculous world we live in now, and their children, who can't imagine such things.
New Avalon is about healing, growing, and coping in a strange new world.
