SYNOPSIS:
A thrilling, comedic and moving contemporary animated (or live action/cgi) adventure feature film for family audiences, telling the story of a pair of young South African Elephants who escape from their National Park and – with two human teenagers - travel to India to try to save their herd from a cull. A cull which has been arranged by the park's own managing director - a money grabbing, plastic faced, ivory trader.
Following the shooting of her beloved father, and learning that her herd is to be culled, a determined teenage elephant LOLOO, leads her 'park twin' - the young human ALBERT - and her excitable best friend CHIMALSI, from their home in a South African National Park across land and sea to seek the help of their Royal Indian Cousins. ..
Encountering great evil, extraordinary goodness and much in between, Albert, Hetty and the elephants - assisted by a lion, a gazelle, giraffes, a whale, crocodiles, a girl - HETTY, a Scottish Osprey, an elderly Indian elephant and a President’s son and hindered by the Managing Director of their own National Park, a ship’s captain, three pirates, a shark and a warlord - have to find the strength of character to overcome danger, grief, fear, storms, doubt, sickness and prejudice, until, at last, not much older, but a whole lot wiser, they return home to the herd they have managed to save.
At heart, this is not only about the elephants' loss of innocence and coming of age, it is also about our responsibility to protect all the fantastic creatures with whom we share the planet.
