Following a Christmas Eve blunder, Santa’s elves orchestrate a high-tech takeover of the North Pole, but when corporate greed and failed technology threaten to ruin Christmas, the elves must unite to retake the holiday, restore Santa’s mojo and prove Christmas Magic is still alive.
SYNOPSIS:
In a world where Santa Claus is real and everyone knows it, the newest
member of Santa’s Christmas Eve elf sleigh team, Seren (late 20s), looks
to prove herself and live up to her father’s reputation. Other flight
team members are the navigator Ash (50s), flight engineer Harper (30s),
and of course Santa himself. Seren is nervous for her first flight but
Santa calms her promising to always have her back.
Meanwhile in Dover, Delaware, Natalie (7) prepares for Santa’s annual
Christmas Eve arrival with dad Michael (40) and grandpa Joe (70).
Finishing their Christmas Eve rounds, Seren discovers the unthinkable–a
missed present– a purple-wrapped box intended for Natalie. They attempt a
daring pre-dawn race eastward that includes a loop around the St. Louis
Arch arriving in Delaware seemingly just in time. But Santa’s luck runs
out when he’s spotted by Natalie in her home and fails to deliver the
gift.
Ashamed, Santa hides away Natalie’s forgotten gift. Seren blames
herself. She and Ash concoct a scheme to bring in tech giant MaxBeta to
take over North Pole operations.
MaxBeta is headed by Lauren Maxwell (30s) who stands to inherit the
company from her father Graham (70s). Along with her put-upon underling
Wendy (30s), Lauren rallies her staff for a North Pole presentation
promising an app that provides the “Magic of Christmas in your hand.”
Feeling lower than ever, Santa accepts Lauren’s proposal. Seren and Ash
are confident but Harper remains dubious of MaxBeta, receding to his
reindeer stables with plans to build a new, modernized sleigh.
Upon their takeover, MaxBeta levels a forest and rapidly constructs
manufacturing facilities, leaving the elves’ old workshop abandoned. Not
wanting interference from Santa, Lauren enlists Ash to keep him busy.
After hilarious failures with curling and snowboarding, Ash finds Santa
excels at hockey.
MaxBeta takes strict control over the holiday, including copyrighting
popular Christmas terms and replacing children’s Santa visits with a
bizarre 3D hologram. The public condemns inflated costs for items on the
MaxBeta app, including “Adding a 13th Day of Christmas” and “Naughty
List Expungements.” Though angry letters pour in from kids and parents
voicing their dissatisfaction, Lauren manages to keep Santa in the dark
and all scrutiny at bay. But when Seren spots MaxBeta’s plans for a new
blue Santa Suit, she fears Christmas Magic may be gone forever.
With the next Christmas Eve upon them, Lauren looks to impress with her
tech-heavy approach. But Seren and Harper find proof of MaxBeta’s
devious doings in a disheartening letter from Natalie. When Lauren
intercepts the letter by feeding it to a hungry reindeer, Seren devises a
plan to expose MaxBeta’s much-hated payment app. She sneaks into
Lauren’s office and with some unexpected assistance from Wendy, Seren
makes off with a tablet to show Santa.
With real data ready to show Santa, Seren finds the tablet has broken
during her hasty escape. Reminding him of their convenient, Santa makes
good on his year ago promise to always have Seren’s back and he
magically restores the tablet. He now sees the app, payments and
MaxBeta’s delivery drones going haywire spitting gifts into the sky.
Santa resolves to save Christmas but his team must rejoin and work
together. With the help of Harper’s new tricked-out sleigh, the team
flies off where Santa uses a hockey stick to swat the errant drones from
the sky.
Their combined efforts saves Christmas for the world. Knowing Santa
still has unresolved business, with just minutes remaining before
sunrise, Seren produces Natalie’s forgotten gift from one year ago. With
his confidence restored and with the aid of Harper’s new engine, Santa
turns the sleigh around. Racing back to Delaware with the same loop
around the St. Louis Arch, Santa successfully delivers Natalie’s gift
restoring his mojo and Natalie’s faith.
Returning to the North Pole, Lauren tries to cover but is confronted by
Graham who’s heard the real story from Mrs. Claus. When Seren reveals
the payment app wasn’t just shut down, it returned everyone’s money,
Lauren panics, running off into the snow.
Celebrating at the annual North Pole Christmas party, friendships are
mended, relationships are blossoming and Santa and Mrs. Claus perform a
perfect a hip-wiggling rumba.
Christmas 2.0 can be a live action or animated feature.

Very good logline indeed, Mark. Just remove the extra line between 'retake' and 'the holiday.'
