Laura, a mother struggling with schizophrenia, kidnaps her son Daniel from his foster family, desperate to keep him close. Together, they embark on a perilous journey from the United States to Canada, narrowly evading authorities at every turn. As they move from town to town, Laura tries to provide Daniel with stability and a semblance of a normal life, while simultaneously grappling with her mental health.

Daniel, who initially feels both relieved and confused by the sudden turn of events, begins to question the morality of their actions. Despite the challenges they face, Laura and Daniel share tender moments and create new memories together. However, their past catches up with them as suspicion arises in the communities they pass through, and the police close in on their location.

Faced with the reality of their situation, Laura begins to understand the consequences of her actions and seeks help for her schizophrenia. As she works to improve her mental health, Daniel attempts to adjust to life back with his foster family, secretly reading Laura's letters about her progress.

Upon her release from jail, Laura joins a mental health support group and, with their help, petitions the court for supervised visitation rights. As they slowly rebuild their relationship, Laura and Daniel navigate the complexities of their past and present, striving to create a healthier and more stable future. This emotionally charged thriller/drama highlights the challenges of mental illness and the power of love and redemption in the face of adversity.
