GODDESS
By Effie Trihas

GENRE: Thriller, Drama
LOGLINE:

In societies divided by faith and judgment, three women, untouched by man, find themselves inexplicably pregnant. As they navigate the chaotic waters of public opinion, their intertwined stories become a testament to courage, resilience, and the enduring spirit of womanhood.

SYNOPSIS:

A massive crowd gathers at a catholic church in

New York City. The crowds swarm and chants

"Saint Cat, Saint Cat, Saint Cat!" The excitement

swells as the Cardinal approaches the

microphone and announces that it is a wonderful

occasion for which they've all gathered. Then,

several explosions occur throughout the

congregation before we cut to five months earlier

in Mumbai, India where a young girl (14), is giving

birth on a dirty mattress. Seeing that it's a baby

girl, the woman helping her deliver takes the baby

away and goes outside to a nearby landfill where

she places the baby under a piece of cardboard.

Later, the baby is found by a band of homeless

children looking for food. They take the baby and

begin doing their best to care for her though they

have nothing themselves.

In a monastery in another part of the world, a

young nun is throwing up in the bathroom,

clutching her small but very pregnant stomach.

She goes to the garden to pray at the statue of

Mother Mary. From the window above, Mother

Superior, having just received a letter from

Vatican City, stares down at the young girl.

In Somalia, a girl with cracked lips and blistered

feet stumbles in the hot sand near a

Doctor's Without Borders refugee camp. She

collapses and believes she is dying as blood

comes down her thighs. Above her, a shadow

appears, and David, the doctor from the nearby

camp, soothes her and promises she will be taken

care of.

In Florida, a teenage girl sings on the stage of her

church while her dad heals people through the

power of the Holy Spirit on stage. Later, she's

caught smoking weed by her mother. Clearly a

troubled teen, she remembers how her dad beat

her brother up for playing with lipstick when they

were younger. Soon after, her brother ran away. She

cries as she realizes she can no longer remember

her beloved brother's face.

Back in India, the gang of kids taking care of the

abandoned baby are caught by Jeetu, a bully

who wants the baby so he can garner more

sympathy when begging in the streets. Even in

doing everything they can to protect her, it

doesn't appear they'll be able to escape his

clutches as he discovers the hiding spot where

the young boy, Vihan, is holding her and praying

to Ganesh for protection. The screen cuts to

black as Jeetu's fist connects with Vihan cheek.
