LOGLINE: A construction company goes belly-up and the owner grudgingly substitutes at an elementary school.

SYNOPSIS:

Nothing is more uplifting or needed now during our current recession than a good laugh, particularly one that encompasses a tough luck situation with a happy ending. This script is in the vein of THE MONEY PIT and KINDERGARTEN COP with slapstick humor and a touch of romance. It's PG-13 and is based on today's job instability which we can all relate to yet gives us the gut-busting laughter that we need to survive this economic crisis. What could be worse in life than losing your business? Ask Ray Barnett who has lost everything; his construction company, home and even his relationship with his mother. But things take a positive turn as Ray cashes in on a golden opportunity to substitute at an elementary school. With hammer in hand, Ray confronts a classroom of dysfunctional students and a dislikable principal in an effort to fight for a worthy cause and help a cancer-stricken student get the money she needs for a life-saving surgery by holding a public car wash. This script is loaded with hysterically funny characters; hookers, truckers, bikers, and various riff-raff that help to support Ray's cause. His big-hearted efforts take the public by surprise as he becomes their latest and greatest hero, and the dastardly principal ends up booted out of school.
