THE FUTURE FORCE
By Ed Vela

GENRE: Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Sci-fi
LOGLINE: Can Earth survive a pitched battle between two warring alien races with only a novice group of super-powered teens as its sole defenders?

SYNOPSIS:

WALKER, an 13-year old, mute with telepathic and other mental powers, has precognitive dreams of the THRAX and the MYXL, alien races, battling in space at the edge of Earth's solar system. The two warring fleets decimate each other and the remnants limp to Earth to regroup and face off. Walker, psychically aware of other kids with super powers, assembles a team: RANGER, 17, a street kid, can control sound; AURORA, 16, a French Ambassador's daughter, can refract light; GORDON, 16, an Australian-half Aborigine, can transform into any living thing he touches, and Irish twins, CIAN and CAOILAINN, 14, together can harness electricity. At the farm of the twin's bawdy aunt, BRONAGH, the group trains in using their powers together, under the watchful eye of HAMISH, 11, the twin's mysterious American cousin. As they get familiar with each other, a romantic triangle develops between Ranger, Aurora and Gordon, and personality conflicts threaten to undermine the group's unity. Walker, fearful the group will splinter before it’s even fully formed, uses his mental abilities to “influence” the others, fully aware that the stakes are high, as Walker knows that if the Earth is to have a future they will be the force to ensure it. The Myxl, an insect-like race, feast on humans in the Malaysian jungle and scurry to set up a beacon to call for reinforcements. The Thrax, who have landed in a rural region of the Western U.S., turn local humans into zombie-like slaves to help build the powerful weapon of destruction: Omega-Droid. R'GON, a young Thrax centurion, disagrees with his father, T'JARRA, the ship's commander, about what the Thrax are doing to the inhabitants of what is supposed to be a neutral planet. T'Jarra is steadfast in his resolve to rape the Earth of it's resources and dispose of all its indigenous population, mirroring the current regime on Thrax as it slips from Republic to Empire. Walker reveals what he has been doing mentally to the others on the eve of their battle with the aliens, causing Gordon and Aurora to abandon the group. The Thrax and Myxl find and attack each other, obliterating an army unit in the process, as the newly formed Future Force arrive on the scene. Aurora and Gordon reconsider and return to the group as they struggle to use their combined powers to stop the Thrax and Myxl from enslaving the earth. When it seems as if their combined powers will not be enough to defeat the aliens, Hamish, discovering powers of his own, tips the scales, while R'Gon struggles to find the strength to betray his own race to preserve his honor. But, will even Hamish's awesome power and R'Gon's help be enough to thwart the designs of these ancient enemies in time to prevent total annihilation?
