An ex-union fixer with a violent past drifts into a small town and comes to the aid of oppressed migrant workers.
SYNOPSIS:
Jake Kaminski rolls into a Mexican-border town and joins a group of migrant farm workers. When the migrants' Anglo exploiters take them across a factory's union picket line, Jake refuses to be a scab. He's kidnapped and viciously beaten for his insolence.
Found by sympathetic union organizers, he trails along with them, reveals that the union is a part of his dark past, and offers the occasional helpful advice. The shocker is when he reveals that he was a union mobster for the Teamsters, guilty of violence that will always haunt him.
When he's set up as a scapegoat for a migrant girl's death, he struggles to avoid the mistakes of the past.
