This sounds like an exciting Thriller, John Huckert!!!
I suggest removing the brackets from the logline. Here's a logline suggestion: "When the most powerful tornado ever recorded hits the US, a meteorologist/storm chaser and his daredevil adopted dad concoct a way (or plan) to destroy it."
Or this: "When the most powerful tornado ever recorded hits the US, a meteorologist/storm chaser—who lost his entire family as a child to a twister—and his daredevil adopted dad concoct a way (or plan) to destroy it." But I don't think you need "who lost his entire family as a child to a twister" in the logline. I think "adopted dad" is enough.

You're welcome, John Huckert. This reminds me of "Twister" but with a twist. :)
