SYNOPSIS:

Ethan, a talented guitarist and singer, battles a severe eating disorder in a treatment center. But today, his parents drop a bomb—it's their last visit. No more court-ordered force-feeding or involuntary commitment. They are done. With nothing more to lose, Ethan flees the center, allowing self-destruction to dictate his new path.

Aaron, a houseless musician, plays the harmonica at a subway station, ignored by passersby. The meager coins he collects aren't enough, so he dine-and-dashes, pursued by the restaurant owner. Just as Aaron is about to escape, a voice snares him—Ethan. Singing at the subway station, an unspoken connection forms between the two musicians. Ethan helps Aaron evade the police before they can arrive. In an unlikely turn of events, they form a '70s folk-rock band: The Houseless.

To kickstart their musical journey, they steal a seemingly abandoned van they find on the road. Sneaking into Aaron's former house, they aim to retrieve his drum kit without alerting his mother—who had previously kicked him out for wanting a beautiful penis when he was still called Eleanor. They successfully smuggle the drums into the van but miserably fail to remain unnoticed by Aaron's mother.

As The Houseless conquers the music scene, they encounter Cole and Kayla, two as passionate musicians and as secretly damaged individuals. Cole joins the band as the keyboardist, while Kayla takes up the bass guitar.

However, their newfound fame takes a dangerous turn when the van's rightful owner tracks them down. Their lives spiral into an uncontrollable domino effect. Ethan convinces the van owner to buy the vehicle from them with the check from his grandmother's-estate—given by his parents before they abandoned him. Done deal, but while nearly fainting, Ethan breaks his guitar’s neck by accidentally stepping on it in his fall. As a symbolic farewell, Kayla throws the broken guitar into the fire.

Determined to salvage their dreams, Kayla takes matters into her own hands by threatening her father with revealing the secrets of their troubled past. He agrees to provide them with the money they need. But Kayla can’t quite come back from the confrontation and lashes out at Cole.

Meanwhile, Ethan’s condition worsens. He faints while crowd-surfing during their most significant gig to date. The rest of the band realizes something is wrong, but Ethan keeps denying it. Until Aaron discovers napkins full of spitted food in Ethan’s pocket. A heated argument occurs, leading Aaron to leave and Ethan to contemplate suicide. All hit rock bottom.

Finally, Ethan agrees to return to the treatment center. The Houseless disband, each member left heartbroken but not without hope. Aaron attempts to reconcile with his parents. Kayla reaches her breaking point, confiding her dark secret to Cole and the police. Ethan eats.
