1343 Brittany - The beginning of the hundred year war between France and England.

Noblewoman Jean De Clisson learns of the execution of her husband, Olivier De Clisson a loyal knight fighting for France by the hand of his friend Charles De Blois and King Philip VI of France. Thinking that he was a traitor who sided with the English, De Blois convinces the King of France to have him beheaded. When his wife, Jean De Clisson learns of this wrongful cowardly murder she sells her lands and gathers a force of men and three ships to take her revenge on France. Painting the ships black and dyeing the sails crimson red she patrolled the English Channel with her Black Fleet boarding and killing the crews of every French ship she found. She always left a few alive to return to France and tell all that the Lioness of Brittany hunts these waters. For Thirteen years she and her pirates instilled fear throughout the Channel until she stopped, married Sir Walter Bentley and settled back on the coast of Brittany.
