Sent to cover a story in a small conservative town, the rookie anchorwoman of a tabloid TV show uncovers the horrifying motives behind a group of overly solicitous hospital volunteers, who pay special attention to a young man recuperating from a catastrophic accident at the site of a Satanic ritual.
SYNOPSIS:
Topic Of Interest, a new tabloid television show is on a summer tour visiting small towns across the country with newsworthy stories. Ely Nevada starts off the western leg of their trip. For a small town, Ely contains a surprising amount of secrets including the suicides of two local clergies and a support group for adult survivors of childhood ritual abuse, which it seems half the citizens of Ely attend. But one other major problem has vexed the citizens of Ely for years: A group of Devil worshipers, never seen by anyone, who every full moon leave behind cryptic messages and grisly evidence of rituals.
Shannon Greer, Topic of Interest’s young anchorwoman has problems of her own and isn’t too keen on roughing it in Ely for a subject she considers at best, mildly intriguing and most likely done by local kids with nothing better to do. Using what little she has to work with, she zeroes in on Brandon, a local teen, nearly killed a few months earlier in a bizarre accident at the site of a ritual, who now recuperates at the local hospital. During this time a group of overly helpful religious women, who dress in 19th-century garb, and call themselves “Judidions”, have arrived with a unique donation to the church and volunteer services for any hospital patient desiring their help. Brandon doesn’t need to ask for anything. The Judidions have taken an almost pathological interest in him, much to the discomfort of his mother, Beth.
For Shannon, finding info about Brandon proves no small feat as the over-protective citizens thwart her every move. One, in particular, Sue Ann, a former close friend of Beth's proves to be the biggest obstacle until later, she becomes the one tracking Shannon down. Sue Ann, suffering a terminal ailment of her own, is a patient at the hospital too. She’s seen the face of an attacker, who 18 years earlier may have been responsible for a vicious attack against herself and Beth, which led to Brandon’s premature birth and may be linked to the strange ongoing sexual abuse he suffers during his recuperation. This terrible secret remains hidden until an unusual substance is found in a vial outside Brandon’s room.
The contents will soon shed light on his connection to the occult activity in Ely and the true plans of the Judidion women, who, it’s discovered, possess staggering powers and are in league with the Devil himself.
