When an office worker in a struggling marriage awakens in a dark underground realm teeming with deadly traps, he finds himself forced to work with a group of new and familiar faces to escape the endless cavern

SYNOPSIS:

When HARRY (35) discovered his father died in an accident a year ago, it broke him. The depression took over, driving a wedge between him and his family and leaving him a despondent shell. After a shouting match with his wife, Harry finds himself kidnapped by an expanding cult known as the Way of the Paths and awakens in an endless dark cavern surrounded by a lake of blood.

Desperate to escape, he swims across until he’s discovered by several other captured strangers, including a tortured high school guidance counselor, an emergency physician with an addiction, a security guard with a predilection, an older stubborn Bible-thumper, and a wary man out for himself. Harry soon learns that not everyone is as they seem and that some of them are connected after CYNTHIA (15), the daughter of the woman Harry had an affair with, is brought to their dark shore.

Unbeknownst to the group, they are connected by fate and circumstance. The deeper Harry travels into the cavern, the more his and the others’ sanities are tested, confronted by apparitions of their past and brutal, unnatural traps. From razor wires hanging from the ceiling like cobwebs to narrow passages playing tricks on their minds, this is hell on (or under) Earth.

After coming upon a church, Harry and the others discover that the cult has left followers down in the cavern in preparation for some ritual, but TROY, the only remaining member, has killed his fellow brothers and sisters after learning the truth. Before he can give them answers, he slits his own throat.

Lost and terrified in the cavern, the others soon reveal their secrets and realize how they are connected. They begin to question everything, including the very nature of the cavern they are trapped in. This place revels in their horror as if feeding on their tortured souls. When Harry’s finally confronted by the CULT LEADER, he’s taken with Cynthia into the cavern’s furthest depths to be sacrificed. Harry fights to give Cynthia a chance to escape, as he’s taken by the pit, finally coming to peace with his past sins and his father’s death.
