By Craige Cronin

GENRE: Romance, Comedy
LOGLINE:

To her horror a researcher on a poor-taste talk show learns through an unknown stalker that her upper-crust family is as scandal-riddled as the guests on her show.

SYNOPSIS:

Sophie is a nice person but a bit of a princess. Her protective parents call her 'pumpkin'. Daddy' is a judge, her husband is a surgeon, and she leads an insulated life within the well-heeled family circle.

But Sophie is not without ambition and strives to make everyone proud by working as a researcher on a talk show, named after the bitchy hostess, "Clorissa". Being a talk show researcher sounds good, until you have to get down in the mud with the folks you want to have on the show. But Sophie is okay about it because she knows at the end of the day she gets to dine at her well-heeled parent's house or return to the security of her husband's protective arms. Her motives are pure, if not naive -
she sees herself as genuinely helping people, just like her father and husband.

But a glitch appears on her rosy horizon. While on a tough assignment in a ghetto she returns to her car to find a mysterious note instructing her to go to a motel and wait at the bar, there to see a tall, dark stranger who will 'enlighten' her. Although with misgivings, Sophie attends the appointment and there observes her husband entering a motel with an attractive woman.

Devastated, Sophie struggles to keep balance. Her confusion is only added to by the unwanted attentions of "Clorissa's" sleazy producer, Brad, who, on the surface of things is everything she doesn't want in a man. When further mysterious notes follow, she learns her parents areswingers', that her respectable sister and brother-in-law are Devil cultists, and that her brother may be the queen of the gay mardi-gras.

Just when she thinks her perfect world cannot be turned further upside down, it

is, and Sophie has to take a long, hard look at her life and values. She finds a way to genuinely help others, and in a 'real' world. The secret as to who is sending her notes, spying on her, taping her, guiding her, is also revealed, along with some unexpected twists. Sophie is not the only one to find her `self', and in the process she and her mystery man find each other.

Missing commas made this Logline a difficult read. But the plot is pretty captivating. It kind of reminds me of Noah Hawley's Before the Fall when it comes to the idea of media sensationalism and the apathy it encourages... cough Britney Spears cough. Good stuff.
