A Sexy Comedy. An old man thinks he is teaching his grandson how to be a real
man but instead learns how to become a real woman. (Also a produced play.)
SYNOPSIS:
Grandpa is an aging and cantankerous inventor who lives a hermit-like existence in a
picturesque cabin in the woods. He was married once, to Grandma, but their
partnership ended several years back and has very little chance of recovery. Not
only is that relationship stagnant, but Grandpa lives in denial that Grandma supplied
him with the vital ingredient to his inventor’s mind - that of a constructive critic.
Without her he continues to work on fruitless, half-baked ideas.
Locked into this torpid, self-delusional world, he is surprised to find his 16 year old
grandson arrive on his doorstep, having run away from home. Grandpa is well aware
that his only daughter did not marry well and that their son, Michael, has not had a
happy childhood. Grandpa is secretly delighted though to have Michael’s company.
Although his grandson is a strange and withdrawn child, he possesses the same
insightful abilities regarding Grandpa’s inventions as Grandma did.
But when Michael arrived he was sporting a black eye, courtesy of three local bullies.
Grandpa, being a compulsive philosopher, relates to Michael how as a child he once
stood up to a bully, and (naturally) emerged triumphant. The next day Michael travels
to town alone and confronts the bullies himself in a highly heroic manner. When
Grandpa discovers how brave and honorable his grandson behaved - despite being
small and somewhat effeminate - he realizes the lad is a quality person and prevails
upon him to return home and finish his schooling.
Years go by and Michael returns as a handsome young man. He is on summer
vacation from college, having dropped out of an architecture course in order to study
patent law. Secretly delighted to have ‘a man on the inside’, Grandpa also discovers
that his 20 year old grandson is still a virgin. He decides to do Michael a huge favor
and invites a local call girl to the cabin. Horrified, Michael hastily declines. They go
fishing that night on a nearby lake and as Grandpa expounds his philosophy on the
journey of life, Michael tries hard to confess his disinterest in girls. Although hearing,
Grandpa is not listening.
It comes as a stupendous shock, therefore, that a few years later his grandson
returns, not as Michael, but as Michele. Grandpa finds he has to rapidly backpedal
on his previous male-to-male advice on women.
It is Grandpa, the would-be philosopher, who ultimately learns a lesson from life. He
realizes that Michael always was Michele, and that she still has the same brave
heart. When Michele goes to visit Grandma, however, the reception is not good. But
Grandpa fully backs his grandchild’s decision and with a little tweaking he is able to
bring himself, Grandma and Michele happily back together.
This is a low budget movie and can, if required, be completed with only two speaking
roles.
