FINDING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS

FINDING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS
By Sabrina Mansfield

GENRE: Family, Drama
LOGLINE: A distrustful 13-year-old boy is sent to live with his uncle in the country. Will the foster girl next door and her guardian angel horse help him to realize they deserve a forever home in time for Christmas?

SYNOPSIS:

When he wakes suddenly on Christmas Eve, 13-year-old Cole knows he has little time to deliver an important message. He rushes down the country road to the neighbor’s barn where his best friend, foster girl, Brynna lives and where his guardian angel, a big black horse named Bear, watches over him. As he wraps his arms around the horse, a huge gust of wind causes a big BANG and he is transported back in time, to the memory of when his drug-addicted mother was shot by her boyfriend and our story begins.

When his mother doesn’t wake up from a coma, Cole is sent to the country to live with his estranged uncle; angry and overly-independent, he immediately rejects his uncle’s kindness and runs away. It is only after making friends with Brynna and her majestic black horse, that he considers staying. He learns that Brynna is working hard to create a Christmas box full of items that she hopes will prove to her foster parents that she is deserving of being adopted before it is “too late” and she becomes an “undesirable teenager,” to be forever lost in the system.

The boy is weighted down by the guilt of leaving his mother behind and is tormented by dreams where he is running from danger - and where only the mystical horse can save him. Then, when he and Brynna set out alone on a risky journey to find her missing big brother in the city, and everything goes wrong, he realizes that he must either move forward and accept his uncle’s kindness or risk losing his best chance at a happy life and the home he never had.
