An unpopular contestant in a Reality TV survival contest stumbles on a menagerie of paralyzed animals, and the spider-like robot alien that collects them. When a magnetic pulse intended to incapacitate her, wipes out all her communication, she must fend for herself and avoid becoming a specimen like the animals she desperately wants to save.

SYNOPSIS:

Rachel Carson has a PhD in Biology and sees everything in black and white. Craving isolation after the death of her daughter, she enters a Reality TV far north remote survival contest. An animal rights proponent, Rachel espouses unpopular ideas about how humans should inhabit the earth. Her daily show VLOGs which preach cooperation not competition, have made her the least popular contestant. “Does she remember she’s entered a competition?” detractors question.

When she stumbles upon a menagerie of paralyzed animals in the forest, Rachel immediately moves to save them. She’s stopped in her tracks when a spider-like alien robot pursues her, zapping her with a magnetic pulse that knocks her down and knocks out all her communication equipment. Narrowly escaping, Rachel searches for help from other show contestants. Rachel’s search brings her to the show’s favourite, James Douglas, a former NFL linebacker and charming family man. Suspicious that Rachel is lying to sabotage his chances, he abandons her and travels to the forest to disprove her claims. Incensed by his deception and foolishness, Rachel follows.

Attempts to release the animals and destroy the spider-bot fail, and James ends up captured. Worse, Rachel discovers that the alien is now extracting DNA from its prey before discarding their bodies. After a botched attempt to release James, Rachel enlists help from a lanky indigenous teenager, Billy, who passes by her campsite. Together they manage to free James, but just as they are about to escape, the spider-bot captures Billy. Determined to save Billy the way she was unable to save her daughter, Rachel returns to the alien’s lair, her strength mined from the fact that she doesn’t care if she comes out alive.
