After a late night TV Horror Host announces an amateur film contest, a twelve year old boy from a broken home puts together a Giant Monster Movie that he believes will lead to fame and fortune.
SYNOPSIS:
Dana has a troubled life. He's only twelve, and he's already the caretaker of his eight year old brother Patrick. His mother is an alcoholic. His father works two jobs and struggles to keep up with the mortgage. In the midst of all this, Dana has one thing that gives him joy: Giant Monster Movies
He loves them all. From the classics to the modern day reboots. Monster movies aren't just a temporary escape from him; they mean so much more. So when his favorite TV Horror Host announces a "Make Your Own Movie" contest, he jumps at the chance to put his story on screen. He bribes the bullies to work for him. He lifts set building materials from the local construction site. He almost burns down the neighborhood with his amateur special effects. All for the sake of his vision.
With the deadline coming closer and closer, Dana finds himself having to compromise more and more. Meanwhile, his family life starts coming apart. With the world seemingly conspiring against him, he begins to wonder if it will even matter if the movie gets finished at all.
