After recently being diagnose with stage four colon cancer, an ultra-conservative man of God must road trip to Burning Man to gain back his daughter’s love before he dies.
SYNOPSIS:
We follow David, a lonely hyper-conservative Christian, on his journey to find peace and love in the face of death as his life is sent on a direct collision course to the world of the Burning Man festival. He is a lost man, unaware that he is just a gentle nudge away from a mid-life crisis when we meet him.`After recently being diagnose with stage four cancer, David must road trip to Burning Man to back his daughter’s love back before he dies. He let his religious beliefs push his only child away and eventually led to his marriage failing. A mixture of pride and fear prevents him from reaching out, making him public enemy number one to Tara who has been away to college and staying with his ex-wife the last three years. His cancer is rapidly spreading, and his time is running out. Will David be able to push his closed-minded ideals behind and gain Tara’s forgiveness for both their sakes before the big C takes him? The Burning Man will be a roller coaster ride of emotions that bust the confining walls on genres because, FUCK genres, but really because that is what the real human condition feels like. Nothing is ever fully drama, or fully comedy, so I aimed to tip toe the line between a serious drama and dark comedy that will be somewhere between the stark reality of Three Billboards over Ebbing Missouri and the unpredictable, psychedelic adventure of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas mixed perfectly with the immature humor of Harold & Kumar go to White Castle. I want you to laugh, cry and actually evaluate your own life after you watch this film.
This was my thesis script for California State University's screenwriting Master of Fine Arts program that I was honored to be a part of. I attempted drama but ended up with a dramedy at best.

The funny thing about writing Jordan is you have an idea of the story you are going to tell but as you begin writing your story starts to take on a life of its own and it takes you in a new direction you did not plan.

Excellent premise! I love the existential aspect behind David's journey and growth in your story. As long as there is balance between the dramatic beats and the comedic segments, I'm sold.
