O'Malley is tired and wants out job but the CIA director tells him there is one more mission for him in Middle East.

He reluctantly agrees and flies to Beirut. At the hotel, he meets his contact at the bar. After the contact leaves, O'Malley has a drink with an alluring woman at the bar. They wind up in his hotel room where they make love. After their love-making , he tells her the origin of his nickname, The Tourist. He was a history professor and he told a story of how the Spartans of Ancient Greece would tour battlefields to see who died bravely, who ran, he begged for life and to investigate new weapons and strategy. The CIA heard about it and offered him a job doing just that.

O'Malley and the woman, Bentley, get dressed and go out to a restaurant for something to eat. Walking along the streets of Beirut a truck pulls up with armed gunmen. O'Malley looks at Bentley and she has a gun on him to. She tells him to get into the truck. He obeys.

O'Malley is taken to a room where he is tied up and he is beaten in turns by three terrorists asking him what he knows. He repeatedly tells them he knows nothing. Then the door opens and the leader enters.

When asked again what he knows, O'Malley cracks and yells he knows everything-who ran, who shit in their pants from fright, how many woman and children died, who begged for mercy from a God who wouldn't listen. That he knew everything.

After this outburst, the leader decides O'Malley is crazy or knows nothing. He orders one of the terrorists to kill him. A terrorist walks up to O'Malley and points his rifle at his head. Suddenly, he swings around and shoots the leader and the other terrorists. He starts to untie O'Malley. As it turns out, the terrorist is an undercover Mi6 operative and is mad as hell now that his cover is blown.

He gives a gun to O'Malley and tells him to follow him up to the roof where a helicopter will be waiting, the undercover having operated a homing beacon. O'Malley and the spy fight there way down the hall, killing terrorists on the way and climb a ladder to the roof. They get out on the roof but the terrorists keep coming. The undercover spy is shot to death right in front of O'Malley. The helicopter rises from beside the building, machine gunning the remaining terrorists to death. The helicopter lands and his contact gets out, glad O'Malley is safe. O'Malley says he's fine and asks for a few minutes. He walks over and scans the dead bodies lying around him as the helicopter waits for him to finish.
