In a classic David v. Goliath crime thriller, a small town Police Chief faces agonizing choices as he seeks to outsmart a powerful drug lobby that will stop at nothing to destroy a controversial cure for cancer that could help his own dying wife.
SYNOPSIS:
Police Chief Anthony DiMucci is desperate to find a cure for his wife’s terminal cancer. While investigating the murder of an Alternative Doctor in his town, he comes upon a Rife Machine, a controversial treatment developed in the 1930’s by a brilliant scientist named Royal Rife, which claimed to cure cancer. The machine, now evidence in the hunt for the killer, is stowed away in his department’s evidence room.
But his desperation takes charge of his wits. Although skeptical, he steals the machine in the hope that maybe, maybe, it can save the life of the woman he loves more than life itself. It may not work — but he has nothing to lose.
Except that his actions set off a deadly game of cat and mouse, and he soon finds that he must outsmart a powerful drug lobby which, in order to protect a new cancer drug, has threatened to destroy the machine at all costs. Including the cold-blooded murder of innocent people. When the net widens, he discovers political forces, both local and national, at the other end, and eventually, to keep him from prying further, he is removed from his job. But his wife has been cured of her cancer, and he resolves to continue to do what he can to help others. If he can.

Can you make it tighter? I love the concept but It's not snappy enough to me. Something like: A small-town police chief must outsmart a powerful drug lobby intent on quashing a cure for cancer that could save his dying wife.
