By Joseph Link

GENRE: Sports, Family
LOGLINE:

Noah, the new kid in town, joins the local little league team to have fun and make friends.  Some of the kids on the team, however, are more interested in winning and aren’t so happy to have a newbie join the ranks.  Noah ends up learning about the power of perseverance as he, with the help of his family, navigates the playing field of a season of little league baseball.

SYNOPSIS:

It is the early 80’s. Noah Kingsley’s family recently moved to St. Louis in the hopes that his father’s new job would be an improvement, both financially and travel-wise. Eleven-year-old Noah, being the new kid in town, doesn’t know anyone, has no friends, and winds up spending his time watching baseball on TV.

Things begin to change for Noah, when a kid with coke bottle glasses from the neighborhood, Tommy, comes to his door selling chocolate, raising money for a local little league team. Noah finds out about tryouts and goes in the hopes of joining the team.

Dorety, the pitcher for the team, is not too pleased to have Noah on the team and is afraid Noah’s newness to the sport might get in the way of his ambition. Sam’s dad, Bert, who is the assistant coach, shows up to the game drunk, and roots on the team with Pat, Dorety’s dad. Neither are too impressed with Noah or his parents in the stands.

After the game, at practice, Noah discovers that he is not exactly a natural when it comes to hitting the ball and he feels the pressure, as he is considerably below par for the team. After practice, Dorety, along with some of the other boys, pick on Noah, taking his mitt away and playing keep away with it. This results in Noah being shoved to the ground, humiliated, with his mitt thrown back in his face.

Noah returns home and explodes, upset at both of his parents. He begs his parents, Jaime and Sara, to quit the team. Sam shows up to practice with a suspicious black eye. The coach suspects something is amiss but can’t do anything without proof. Jaime surprises Noah with a new baseball glove and the two spend the evening in the ever-important game of catch.

Will Noah quit the team? What else could go wrong with the team? For Noah? Read the Little League and find out.
