When forced into a decision, a teenage Brazilian girl Bruna makes a wrong choice and is forced to live with the weight of her guilt, until she crumbles under it and has only one choice left.
SYNOPSIS:
A year after a tragic accident and the death of her brother, BRUNA (17) runs away from her parents and finds her way to Zagreb, Croatia. She hitches a ride taking her further towards the Adriatic Sea until she sees her image on the news while at the petrol station. In a panic, she runs away and continues her journey on foot.
As we follow her journey towards the unknown destination, we are introduced to the events from Brazil a year ago. Bruna's family moves to a new city, she starts attending the new school and makes new friends, among them ANA, who Bruna falls in love with. Ana's brother, GUSTAVO causes friction from the first moments, determined to test Bruna, forcing her to pass his initiation. Through a tragic set of events, this ends up with Bruna's brother PAUL dying trying to help Bruna.
Bruna hides her involvement in her brother's death from her parents, scared of Gustavo's threats. The burden of her guilt and the deep sadness of her parents builds within her a pressure she is unable to contain.
On her path through the Croatian mainland, Bruna meets people trying to help her, but she refuses to allow anyone to help her or get closer to her. After finally arriving at the seaside, she steals some money for the ferry towards the island of Brac (the island of her ancestors), where the police are already waiting for her. She is almost caught, but she escapes, hurt and wounded.
With no strength left, she reaches a cliff and has nowhere further to go. Unable to keep running, all her emotions catch up with her and she breaks down totally. After finding a letter from her brother hidden in her bag, she finds a way to open up and at least try to find self-forgiveness.
