SYNOPSIS:
Set in early 1990s Brooklyn, New York, Dirty Three follows Jay Raymond, an African American who leaves his hometown of Brockton, Pennsylvania, with his devoted fiancée, Ann Daniels, to chase his dream of becoming a musician. In New York, life proves far from what they imagined. Ann secures a job at C&O Company, while Jay quits his own job to focus entirely on his music career. Ever supportive, Ann believes in Jay’s vision and sacrifices everything for him. Defying Jay’s warnings, she applies for a loan at her office to support his ambitions. However, her boss, Mr. Greg, takes advantage of her vulnerability, leading to a coercive affair that ends in violence. Jay, misinterpreting the situation as a consensual betrayal, vanishes days later, unaware that Ann was a victim of rape. Barry, a British American and Angela’s lover, is both Jay’s friend and an associate of Don, a young Latino drug lord. Angela introduces Barry to Don under the guise that Barry is her brother. Barry quickly thrives in the drug trade, owing his rise to Don. Meanwhile, Barry and Angela’s secret love affair deepens, betraying Don’s trust. Don de Don, a haunted young drug lord, is still tormented by the death of his fiancée, Jacqueline Torres, a French model who died in his arms. His heartbreak lingers until he meets Angela, a prostitute he plans to marry. As Barry introduces Jay to Don, romantic tension escalates when Don’s sister, Alice, falls for Jay. However, Ann’s possessiveness complicates their budding relationship. The story takes a dark turn as Don discovers Angela’s betrayal with Barry and plans his revenge. Despite his anger, Don needs Barry’s help to defeat a powerful rival, T.T. Lord, and rescue his kidnapped sister, Alice. What unfolds is a gripping tale of passion, ambition, betrayal, crime, pain, and vengeance. As their lives spiral out of control, they are drawn into a vortex of madness that promises no escape.
