A spill of radioactive fracking waste water mutates a colony of harmless moles into voracious eating machines that overrun the drill site.
SYNOPSIS:
Present day Oklahoma, and a small family farm is battling their new neighbors - oil wildcatters raising a fracking derrick. Grad school researcher Susie (20s) is on hand to detail the pollution and derail the fracking with single minded idealism.
Site foreman Duke (50s) would sympathize, but he has his own problems. One worker dumped toxic wastewater out of the containment ponds. That spill has seeped into mole tunnels and these tiny nuisances are growing in numbers and hunger.
When the farmer's pet lab rats escape into the tunnels, they bully the moles into an organized strike team going after the only food in the area - people. Multiple tunnels bring down roads and phone lines, cutting off access to outside help.
As workers are eaten alive, Duke, Susie and the farmers brainstorm a way to destroy the colony. If they can herd the moles into a compact mass and stun them with the fracking site siren, Duke's remaining men can drown them in a concrete slurry.
If Duke and Susie can get across mole infested fields to the drill site, and if their sonic bullet works.
