When his wife is kidnapped, a desperate social media influencer is forced into an absurd treasure hunt for new followers to save her.

SYNOPSIS:

JACK and EMMA RAINEY are minor internet celebrities, vlogging their travels around America in a battered RV as The Rainey Rangers. Their carefully curated social media presence hides their financial struggles and the strain on their relationship. Jack obsesses over growing their brand, while Emma becomes increasingly frustrated with their lifestyle.

When Emma announces she's pregnant, she suggests settling down, but Jack sees it as an opportunity to monetize their future child. After a failed brand deal and an argument about Jack's plans, Emma goes missing.

Jack is contacted by MECHANICDUSK, a troll who demands Jack reach 100,000 followers by midnight to see Emma again. Unbeknownst to Jack, Mechanicdusk is actually JUSTIN, a small-time social media creator who claims to expose the fake lives of other influencers.

Desperate, Jack turns to Emma's brother, MILES, for help. Miles promises to track down the kidnapper by analyzing social media posts. Meanwhile, Justin, as Mechanicdusk, sends Jack video messages showing Emma bound and gagged.

Jack embarks on a series of increasingly desperate stunts to go viral. His attempts initially fall flat but gradually gain traction. As his follower count grows, so does his notoriety, culminating in a misunderstood fake robbery that leaves him a fugitive.

Emma, held captive, begins to fake Stockholm syndrome to win over Mechanicdusk. She plays along with his rhetoric about exposing the fake lives of influencers, slowly gaining his trust.

Jack is eventually arrested, but Miles unexpectedly bails him out. Jack reaches 100,000 followers, but Mechanicdusk presents a final ultimatum: delete his channel in exchange for Emma's safe return. Torn, Jack ultimately chooses Emma and deletes the channel.

As Emma's ruse succeeds, Mechanicdusk reveals his identity as Justin. However, when Jack arrives at the given address, he finds Justin wounded, claiming Emma attacked him. As Jack tries to rescue Emma, it's revealed that Miles has been working with Justin all along. Miles explains his resentment towards Jack and his misguided attempt to "free" Emma from what he saw as Jack's manipulation.

Jack, having live-streamed the confrontation, leaves Miles for the police to deal with and rescues Emma. In the aftermath, Jack and Emma, their online presence now gone, decide to focus on their upcoming parenthood away from the cameras.
