SYNOPSIS:
Irrefutable Proof By Richard Castellane Copyright, All Rights Reserved Science is science -- but what if there’s a bit of intervention, call it ‘research help,’ by the Devil. How can that happen? Well, what if world renowned scientists, a husband and wife team, are out to prove, by “Irrefutable Proof,” that all creation is based upon scientific phenomena, mathematics, quantum physics, string theory, and expansion of Einstein’s and Hawkings’ research conclusions. A God figure is totally out of the picture. Wouldn’t you think that the Devil would be a likely supporter to establish such “Irrefutable Proof”? The Scientists, Jeanine and Noel Markham, enjoy reputations as being the greatest of Mathematicians and Physicists, internationally. They are Professors at St. Genesius University, a highly conservative Catholic institution. Their research has been getting very close to the conclusion that all creation is based upon a highly complex blend of Physics and Mathematics. A natural conflict arises between the staunch conservatism of the University, and the Markhams’ research. The Markhams deliver a Lecture before the Faculty and Administration of St. Genesius, well covered by the media where they are forced to admit, upon questioning by the University’s Monsignor, that they have not yet gained “irrefutable proof” to support their belief that all creation had nothing to do with any God-like figure. The Markhams’ admission is greeted by cynical laughter and guffaws from St Genesius’ faculty, administrators and most of its student body. Weeks after the lecture, the Markhams receive a letter from a Jessica Dormander. She had achieved world fame for her research in Astro-Mathematics some half century earlier, then she had mysteriously disappeared. At the time of her letter to the Markhams, she would have to be in her upper 80’s. In her letter, Dormander states that she heard of the Markhams’ lecture and of their inability to supply the “irrefutable proof” the Monsignor requested. Dormander further informs the Markhams, to their amazement, that she is able to supply the long sought after, “irrefutable proof”. So begins a story which develops into a surprising series of events including appearance of the Devil - in the guise of a very handsome young man (17 or 18) named Sebastian Stillwell. Acting on the Devil’s behalf Dormander makes available to the Markhams her and her husband’s (I.e., you guessed it, Sebastian Stillwell’s) research, which conclusively proves, or so it seems, that all creation is within the parameters of natural phenomena - nothing to do with any God. Dormander never reveals the true (Devil) identity of Sebastian Stillwell. Dormander requires the Markhams to take credit for the “irrefutable proof” research. If they refuse her requirement, she will not give them the research papers. They reluctantly accede to her demands, and thereafter present to the world the research, as their own. The “Irrefutable proof” is such that the world community accepts, as never before, the proposition that all creation is upon natural phenomena. Throughout the world, the worship of God, any God, becomes as extinct as the dinosaur. The Markhams achieve world fame culminating in their receiving the Nobel Prize. What the Markhams are about to learn, actually what Jeanine Markham is about to learn, after an amazing series of events, including her being placed in the company of long-dead atheists (I.e., Einstein, Darwin, Mark Twain, Aristotle, Jefferson, Madison, etc.) is that the “irrefutable proof” was actually part of the Devil’s plan, to totally negate belief in God. Upon such, the Devil will be able to step into the vacuum and achieve total earthly dominance. “Irrefutable Proof” is an enormously suspenseful screen play. The contrast between real and surreal is akin to the mood created in "The Devil's Advocate" and "The DaVinci Code" --"Irrefutable Proof" has just receiving the following commentary by a top Hollywood screen writing personality -- “…sat down with the script of “Irrefutable Proof”.. and read it straight through. I think it’s strikingly memorable and has the potential for a very “atmospheric” production.”
