DOORBELL CAM
By Paul Alan Spreadbury

GENRE: Horror, Comedy
LOGLINE:

A doorbell camera is a portal through which the spirit of a quirky noir-era gay British butler and a demonic Satanic priest travel.  The butler (Cameron) has come to serve Matt, the Demon (Phil) has come to kill Matt and his new love, the beautiful Rastafarian, Rachel.

SYNOPSIS:

Matt, on his own for the first time, has moved into a tidy home in a tidy neighborhood. As a house gift, his overly protective mom has given him a doorbell camera security system. The spirit of quirky noir-era butler Cameron uses the camera as a portal to travel through so he can serve Matt at his mother’s Ouija Board request. The deceased former owner of the home Phil was a self-proclaimed Satanic priest. He also operated a swan boat concession. With help from a coven of three dimwitted reluctant high school students, Phil sacrificed himself to the devil in the garage a year earlier and he’s now returned – through the doorbell camera - as a hideous, deformed shadow-man intent on killing Matt and the beautiful Black Rasta neighbor he’s fallen in love with, Rachel. Needing the aid of a mortal succubus, Phil violently seduces and possesses neighborhood MILF Lydia. Despite their rocky start and physiological differences, Lydia and hideous demon Phil enjoy a normal mixed living/dead domestic relationship. Using his nether-world contacts, Cameron gets wind of Phil’s plan and alerts Matt and Rachel. They enlist the aid of first-generation Italian, Ultra-Catholic neighbors Tony and Maria Boccelli. Maria makes her own holy water and goes around blessing people and things with a little green squirt gun. Rachel’s grandmother Laticia, a wise and mysterious Jamaican voodoo practitioner, also becomes part of the team. As they prepare for battle with Phil and Lydia, Cameron and Laticia develop a romantic digital relationship.

Phil and Lydia arrive at Matt’s house. Matt, Rachel, Laticia (with her magic voodoo powders and potions) and Maria (with a bigger squirt gun) are waiting. Tony stayed back to make more ammo (holy water). There’s no sign of Cameron. A fierce, horrific battle ensues ending with Cameron’s arm reaching through the camera portal and pulling Phil back down into hell. Laticia’s killed, Cameron’s gone and Rachel’s broken with grief. Nothing Matt, Maria or Tony can say helps. Then Cameron reappears! Instead standing on Matt’s porch (the only place he’s ever been seen) he’s in a tropical paradise drinking a Pina Colada, joined by the spirit of a happy, energized Laticia.
