LAGNAIPPE
By Paul Alan Spreadbury

GENRE: Drama, Comedy
LOGLINE:

“Friends” meets “Sex in the City” in this ½ hour series where four strong, independent, diverse young women form sister-strong bonds of friendship as boarders at Collier House, once the most prestigious brothel in New Orleans and now operated by its eccentric, elderly but still sexy former madam.

SYNOPSIS:

Collier House, once the city’s most prestigious brothel, is now a females-only boarding house. Eccentric, drama queen owner Angela Collier was the madam back in the good old days and is fond of boasting of the many governors she’s bedded. Her middle-aged, proper, dry-witted gay house boss Nathaniel keeps things as close to sane as possible. A new border, Donna Dombrowski, has moved from the Bronx to attend Tulane. She has to acclimate to the bizarre culture of New Orleans and also bond with her three fellow housemates; Kate, a young, black phone psychic; Sasha a white reluctant escort and Rosa, a street-tough Creole French Quarter bartender. Eddie, a young man with Down Syndrome, works at Rosa’s bar.

The pilot centers around Donna getting the room and meeting her housemates. A Collier House tradition is to have a ‘special occasion’ dinner whenever there’s a new border. In this case, Emeril Lagasse serves as chef with Saints head coach Sean Payton and his beauty queen girlfriend Skylene as guests. During the course of the pilot, Eddie receives a gift of a new bike from Miss Angela. The pilot ends with everyone at Collier House enjoying the dinner party as Eddie rides his bike home, gets mugged and shot. I’ve also completed the second episode script.

Colorful, diverse characters forced to co-habitat and share the individual eccentricities, quirks and personal dramas of each in a city that’s a character unto itself provide the ingredients for a program with great potential to develop a loyal and large following.
