From the Celtic Sea to the Caribbean, A Pyrate's Life: Anne Bonny is the story of a young woman's journey toward freedom, belonging, and unbound adventure, in a time when women didn't have many options.
SYNOPSIS:
Driven from their home in Ireland by scandal, the Cormacs make the voyage across the Atlantic to build a new life in the New World. But the young Anne can't resist the siren call of the sea. With limited options available to her on land, she opts for a life of risk and adventure as a pirate - even if she's the only woman onboard.
A Pyrate's Life: Anne Bonny examines the challenges faced by women for centuries, from patriarchal ownership, to sexual assault, to the right to choose, and all of the power dynamics between the sexes that've so often kept women "in their place." Anne was not someone to be held down, and her story will inspire other girls to take their lives into their own hands.
