Jane, an aging primatologist desperate to redeem her legacy, accepts an offer from an old friend in Tanzania to save a great ape before poachers kill it. Jane learns that the ape is Jane's long-lost love, who was presumed dead so many years ago.

The only thing that bothers me is how Jane's lost love became an ape. However, there's a heartfelt nature to your story and I'm more intrigued about that than the rest.
