After his medical career is derailed by a malpractice lawsuit, an arrogant surgeon is convinced to join the global tour of a famous self-help guru who has been diagnosed with cancer.
SYNOPSIS:
Brilliant surgeon Dr. Matt Foster’s life is turned upside-down when he loses a young patient on the operating table, resulting in the largest malpractice lawsuit in US history. Two years later, Matt is working as an ER nurse, but he attempts to save a patient without a doctor and is fired. Matt’s ex-brother-in-law, Bobby Goodall, a famous self-help guru, shows up with some bad news: he has cancer, and some good news: he has a job offer for Matt. Bobby needs a personal physician to accompany him on a global tour. Thinking Bobby is a fraud, Matt initially turns down his offer — but after some soul searching, he realizes saving Bobby could help get him back in the Operating Room. Matt boards a luxury jet and is swept up in the circus of sold out 10,000 seat shows and volunteer parties. While adapting to tour life, Matt meets Hannah, a volunteer who doesn’t buy Bobby’s message either. After a passionate and awkward night of sex, Matt and Hannah form an unconventional friendship. The tour rolls on and Bobby decides to explore options outside traditional medicine. Realizing there is no stopping Bobby, Matt reluctantly steps in and takes over vetting the miracle cures. Unfortunately, Bobby’s condition worsens and Matt is drawn in closer to him seeing the vulnerable sick person behind the Bobby facade. Matt is left with one simple question: if Bobby Goodall, a man who selflessly tries to save everybody, cannot be saved, then what hope will Matt ever have to be saved himself?
