Restated: “A tormented white teen and her poor black neighbors enter an opposite world in which they are powerful. After abusing their authority, they learn empathy.” This ending perhaps excuses the bad behavior of the powerful elites. Your main characters could instead learn what techniques the powerful can and should use to be less abusive.
