SYNOPSIS:
Joseph Fields has just moved to Northport, a rich enclave a half-hour away from NYC. His father took the job as the new Rector at St. Luke’s church. The position has taken the family away from their old lives in Bouville where Joe’s mother is buried. Though the town has a strict social hierarchy, he tries to fit in while dealing with his unstable younger sister and their grief stricken father. The sultry Clover Hewitt comes into the picture and takes Joe to the Fairlawn Country Club of which he is now a member, a perk of his father’s new job. She introduces Joe to a group of kids called the Breakers Crew. They are the dominant rich kids in town. Joe draws the ire of their leader Soren, who begins a plot to show Joe that he doesn’t belong. Clover seduces Joe but during this time he becomes friends with Jane, a scholarship student, who shows him the ropes at his new private school. Soren’s plot unfolds and a trap is set to ruin Joe’s reputation by secretly taping him in a compromising sexual situation. Soren releases the video online and the disgrace could cost Joe’s father his job. In a twist, this bad situation brings Joe and his father closer together. Joe vows to make amends, which he does with the help of Jane, and proves that Soren set him up by secretly recording a confession. An imbalance is righted, the Fields family carries on, and Soren receives a suited punishment. Influences: Pretty in Pink, She’s All That, Some Kind of Wonderful
