Ray graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, with an English Degree/Honors (Creative Writing Option). He is a USF Alumni Member.

Ray has an AS Degree in Hospitality Management and spent 25 years in the Hotel & Restaurant Business, including owning a family-style restaurant in Pennsylvania with his wife, Bonnie, and another couple that he attended Lakewood High School with.
He presently works (15 years) for PODS, Enterprises, Headquarters in Clearwater, Florida. Bonnie and Ray presently live in St. Petersburg, his hometown, locale for "Tender Nightmare."
