Rishikesh Upadhyay was born in Bhanjang Basti, Haflong, a small Nepalis’ hamlet in the district headquarter of North Cachar Hills (now Dima Hasao) to Indian Nepali parents, Pitambar Upadhaya (father), a central government servant worked on the Northeast Frontier Railway service and Nandakala (Bawni) Upadhaya (mother), a homemaker.
He writes articles, non-fiction titles, poems, research articles, book chapters, children's, short stories, etc.
Best known for his writings and teaching!
Dr. Upadhyay was a Albert Nelson Lifetime achievement award winner, the winner of Pencraft Literary Excellence Award, the Literary titan Book award, along with many other honors. He earned MSc, MPhil and a PhD from Assam University, India.
He is currently a Professor (assistant) at the Assam University affiliated college, Haflong Government College in India.
