About Shannon

Raised in a strict Midwestern household with 16 years of Catholic education, Shannon’s friends from the University of Notre Dame took sensible jobs in accounting, law and banking. Shannon adopted the expectations of family and friends and started her career on the corporate side of entertainment – developing websites for clients such as Aaron Spelling and Michael Crichton – all the while yearning to be on the more creative side of things.

Later, she found the silver lining in a pandemic lay-off and pivoted to explore her passion for storytelling. She studied with Jen Grisanti, Lee Jessup, Stage 32 and Roadmap Writers. Her first pilot garnered accolades such as being named a top 10 Humanitas finalist, and she was on her way. She soon realized that her characters were all grappling with the expectations of others and striving to live authentic lives.

Shannon's socially relevant TV drama GARMENT was selected as a 2022 Top10 Fellowship Finalist by Stowe Story Labs, a 2021 Top 11 New Voices Finalist by HUMANITAS, a Top 50 script by ISA, a Top 10 Historical script by "Table Read My Screenplay" Austin, a Semi-finalist by LA International Screenplay Awards, and a Quarterfinalist by ScreenCraft, Creative Screenwriting, Filmmatic & WeScreenplay. A top 2% Coverfly script, it also made the Red List.

Her family feature script RIKKI TIKKI TAVI was recently acknowledged as a Semifinalist by Emerging Screenwriters and a Quarterfinalist by ScreenCraft and Creative Screenwriting. It also made the Red List. After receiving an Iowa Arts Council grant, Shannon wrote a LGBTQ feature about an Iowa artist from her home town: "American Gothic" painter GRANT WOOD. She is also developing a female-led crime drama/thriller and a contained horror/thriller to round out her portfolio.
