About Simon

I am an experienced sound engineer with over a decade of experience in the industry. I started in theatre and live music before moving on to film composition and mixing whilst at the University of Huddersfield.

I've been out of the industry for a short while due to work and am now wanting to build a portfolio of more recent work.

In terms of influence I have taken a lot of influence from Matthew Herbert and his location recordings along with various Electroacoustique composers such as Pierre Henry, Yves Daoust & Monty Adkins and their use of real world recordings for composition.

I also taken influence from Philip Tagg and Brain Eno.

Unique traits: Having a broad background in music means I am able to draw on experience and can cover all the bases for a project rather than just a small area of the project. My studies have included the psychology of sound and a greater understanding of how to utilise an audience's expectations.
