About Steve

Although I finally had to put my lifelong dream of being a child star on hold, I have found that I work well with children and really enjoy working on youth-oriented shows. I did enjoy the fact that I was still being cast as a high school student in TV and film until I was almost 30, but I’m now looking forward to the variety of interesting characters I can portray who are in their golden years.

I’m returning to the screen acting profession after what was intended to be a short hiatus but actually lasted 23 years. During those years, I was on a kind of spiritual odyssey and moved from my hometown of Los Angeles to the small desert community of Joshua Tree. But I had been an actor, singer and musician for most of my life and couldn’t imagine not doing these things, so I got involved with the local music scene and community theater, where I had the opportunity to do roles that I would not usually be cast in. One of these was when I was asked to portray the Grand Toymaker in “Babes in Toyland.” I didn’t feel that I was right for this role, but the director was a respected friend and colleague who felt that I would bring to the role what she was looking for. The response from the audience was surprisingly very enthusiastic.

Small-town living was very enjoyable and I received more media attention and awards than I ever had in Hollywood. But the time has come to return to work and it feels like coming home again after being away for a long time. When I reinstated by SAG/AFTRA membership, I learned that they had assigned me a new membership number during the merger even though I was on honorable withdrawal. They also said “we’ve been looking for you, we have an unclaimed residual check we need to send you.” This was a great welcome home present.
