Max Martin: Time Investigator
(
Film
(Comedy and Short)
Director What would you do if you were given a second chance at life? That's the question proposed in Max Martin: Time Investigator, a short thesis film directed by Dan Purcell. The comedy follows Max Martin (Dan Krackhardt), a wise-cracking, yet clumsy private investigator from 1946 who is hot on the trail of a missing artifact stolen from the famous West Museum. However in trying to solve this crime, Max is knocked unconscious and locked in a deli meat freezer, where his body is preserved 70 years into the future. Now transported to the year 2016, Max attempts to try and wrap up the now "cold case" he was trying to solve back in 1946; though he soon learns that when faced with a big change in one's life, falling back on the one thing that you're "good" at isn't necessarily the "right" thing to do.
Stages

Film
(Drama and Short)
Director Stages follows one man's emotional journey in one night, from sunset to dawn. Each song sung in the film corresponds to one stage of grieving -- denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. These stages manifest as people that the protagonist, Matthew encounters. Each new person pulls him into the next emotional state while singing that stage's song. He travels through an alley, a bar, a rave, a cemetery, and more, ending up in a tranquil forest by a waterfall. Matthew, suffering from a broken relationship, finds his own mental and emotional strength to carry on, and by the film's close, looks toward a hopeful future.

Realizing that he's in a comedy film, John plots his escape by constructing what he hopes to be a Deus Ex Machina: an Existence Machine that will transplant his character out of the movie and into the real world!
