About James

I spent over twenty years as a Technical Writer and manager and am a published songwriter and subject matter articles. I have recently published a novella titled The Rhythm of the Stone: Collateral Damage. It is available on Amazon.

I am currently working a full length novel: The Long Journey Home about A pilgrimage across Northern Spain during the height of the Cold War. Lots of intrigue, action and adventure in this fast paced story. I have also written an unpublished novel The High Water Mark that is a sequel to Long Journey Home. l am working on a third novel titled The Last Man Standing and a fourth, Tullahoma Mud. These two are stand-alone stories.

I was born in Georgia. I am a graduate of Georgia Southern University and as a military brat, I had a variety of employment and life experiences. My passion is historical fiction and the research this category involves. My writing style is a witty, well researched with intrigue, action and southern charm. I am also a student of the human condition. My influences include Hunter S. Thompson, Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, H.L.M. Mencken, Bill Bryson, Jon Meacham and the public library. I love history of the weird and other mostly unknown facts. I currently live in Tennessee and go by the name Hal.

Unique traits: Excellent storyteller. Novelist, currently working multiple projects. One published novella.

Drama A timely and poignant story based in Colorado. A commuter on a bus to Boulder from Denver becomes involved in a horrific wreck a month after the 9/11 attacks in New York. It is a powerful story with interesting characters. Rich sub-plots add to the depth of the well-written story. Rhythm of the Stone is a short novelette, good for a rainy afternoon.
