About Jonathan

I write high concept horror, thriller and comedy scripts. My first script spent 2 years in development with Focus Features here in the UK. They decided to pass but I wasn't deterred as I'd learnt a lot about the craft of screenwriting, as well as how to take notes and adapt them into the work.

I started pitching various studios and producers via Virtual Pitchfest while writing more scripts. CREEDMORE was optioned by Causeway NY and taken to Cannes, the Berlin Film Festival and the AFM. The option expired and now I am pitching it again alongside my other scripts.

Grindhouse style, low to medium budgeted films are what I primarily write as those are the types of films I love to watch - and being a realist, are more likely to get made. However I have written an original big budget western action adventure and have 2 tentpole projects on the project list. One is a spectacular scifi movie, while the second is an OTT disaster-survival epic.

I was hired to write the scifi film THE RIFT which you can watch on my blog. Very proud to say this was my first paid gig as a screenwriter. The brief was: "a short scifi with horror elements, that could be a Roland Emmerich style flick." I think I hit it pretty well although I wrote it very tongue-in-cheek with lots of nods to my favourite genre movies. Still was a blast to write, and had a great time with Robert from Vantis Pictures.

I Tweet a lot and in my spare time paint toy soldiers and play tabletop wargames.
